The Directorate-General of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate won first place in the Best Theatrical Performances category, while the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat Governorate came in second place, and the Directorate-General of Education in South Al Batinah Governorate came in third. This came at the conclusion of the tenth School Theatre Festival "Culture and Empowerment", organized by the Ministry of Education, represented by the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center (Department of Educational Activities).
The closing ceremony was patronized by the Honorable Prof. Dr. Yahya bin Mansour Al-Wahaibi, Member of the State Council, in the presence of a number of Ministry advisors, Directors-General at the Ministry General Diwan, educational directorates in the participating governorates, theater artists, theater criticism specialists, and students.
The School Theatre Festival jury, which consisted of artist Dr. Abeer Al Jundi, artist Abdeen Al Balushi, playwright Hilal Al Badi, and Nasser Al Siyabi, announced the results of the tenth edition of the festival, where the theatrical performance "Al Masar" by the North Al Batinah Education Directorate won the award for the best first theatrical performance, and the theatrical performance "Qattoura Al Shattoura" by the Muscat Education Directorate came in second, while the theatrical performance "The Forbidden Game" by the South Al Batinah Education Directorate won the award for the best third theatrical performance. The play "Al Masar" by its director Rashid bin Abdullah Al Buraiki won the award for the best theatrical direction, and the playwright Mohammed bin Khalfan Al Hinai won the award for the best theatrical text for his writing of the text of the play "Qattoura Al Shattoura", and the play "Al Masar" won the award for the best theatrical decor. The award for the best theatrical makeup went to the play "Qattoura Al Shattoura", which also won the award for the best theatrical costumes and accessories, while the award for the best music and sound effects and the award for the best theatrical lighting went to the play "Al Masar".
The awards included the Best Actress in a Leading Role Award, which went to Hala Al-Droushi for her role in the play “Qattoura Al-Shatoura.” Elias Al-Maamari won the Best Actor in a Leading Role Award for his role in the play “Al-Masar.” Aisha Al-Badia and Said Al-Shanfari won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Actor in a Supporting Role awards, while Rashid Al-Shammari won the Special Jury Award for his role in the play “Hashtag Real Life.”
The judging panel of the solo musical performance competition, consisting of Safaa Al-Muta’ani, Yousef Al-Luwaihi, and Taj Al-Balushi, announced the results of the competition. The first place went to student Raymond Rafiq from Kaab bin Barsha Basic Education School in North Al Batinah Governorate, while the second place went to student Saleh Al-Shayadi from Sheikh Salem bin Said Al-Sayegh School in Muscat Governorate. The third place went to student Ratal Al-Ta’iah from Maria Al-Qibtiya Basic Education School in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, while the Encouragement Award went to student Abdul Aziz Al-Ya’arubi from Saad bin Al-Rabi’ Basic Education School in South Al Batinah Governorate.
Based on the criteria adopted for evaluating the Best Media Coverage Competition for the tenth School Theatre Festival, the media team from the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat Governorate won first place, the media team from the Directorate-General of Education in Dhofar Governorate came in second place, and the Masirat Al Khair School team from the Directorate-General of Education in Al Wusta Governorate came in third place.
The judging committees' recommendations included the need to hold musical training sessions for students and continue training to develop their talents. The judging committee for the theatrical performances competition also highlighted the need to ensure students' linguistic integrity in theatrical performances, organize school festivals in various educational directorates across the governorates, and include theater as an approved curriculum subject, like other school curricula.
