Review of Developments in Digital Educational Projects

The Digital Transformation, Information Technology Governance, and Information Security Committee held a meeting for the Ministry’s Directors-General, educational governorates, and their assistants to review the latest developments in digital transformation and related projects, in the presence of HE Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

The meeting included a presentation of the latest developments in five e-learning projects. In the first presentation, Eng. Iman Al-Rajhi, Director of the Technical Project Management Office, presented the digital transformation project and touched on the project’s governance, follow-up and accreditation methodology, the most important expected risks, and the general vision of the project. The second presentation was about the e-learning management system project and the digital repository, during which Ali Al-Adi, Head of the e-learning section in the Education Technology Department, spoke about the nature of the project, which provides a digital system for managing e-learning with the aim of creating a safe educational environment that brings together teachers and students.

Dr. Khalid Al Kalbani, a geographic mapping specialist, presented the digital atlas project for the Sultanate of Oman and the world, during which he discussed the most important achievements in the phase of collecting geographic data from various governmental institutions and relevant military agencies, and the mechanisms for processing that data and preparing it for later educational use. He also discussed the future development possibilities for the project, such as flexibility in adding data and three-dimensional spatial models.

The fourth presentation was on the Virtual Science Labs Project, presented by Badr Al-Hasani, Assistant Director of the Applied Science Curriculum Development Department, in which he explained the nature of the project, which consists of an electronic platform containing (387) virtual experiments that simulate reality for grades (2-12) for science curricula, and will be available for use through smart applications and the Ministry’s website.

In the fifth presentation, Eng. Aisha Al Rashidi, Director of the Networks and Communications Department, explained the latest developments in the digital schools project, noting the importance of the project in providing the basic capabilities to activate digital and communications services in the school building.
