Ministry of Education honors Winning Students at the Holy Quran Competition

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development, honored the students who won the Holy Quran Competition for the academic year 2023/2024. The honoring ceremony was patronized by HE Dr. Abdullah bin Said Al Saidi, Minister of Justice, Endowments and Legal Affairs, and was attended by HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education, a number of invitees, and the parents of the honored students.

Dr. Suleiman Al-Jamudi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development, delivered the Ministry’s speech in which he said: “This blessed ceremony comes to honor the students who won the Holy Quran Competition held by the Ministry of Education every year. This competition comes in its (48) forty-eighth session; to crown our students and support them to continue and move forward in the path of memorizing the Holy Quran.”

In his speech, he stressed that the Ministry has attached and continues to attach great importance to developing the interest of our students in reciting and memorizing the Holy Quran through several paths, including: the Holy Quran Competition that the Ministry holds annually for all schools in the Sultanate; government and private. This interest is only to instill the love of the Holy Quran and consolidate morals and enhance values ​​in students, in support of the role played by the curricula at various educational levels in building principles and values.

Al-Jamudi concluded his speech by saying: “The Ministry of Education has been keen on everything that would advance the educational cadres and hone their skills and capabilities. The Islamic Education Curriculum Development Sector has received this attention, including the development of Islamic Education curricula for grades one to ten, and the Digital Mushaf project, which is an interactive digital Mushaf with Omani readings that includes Tajweed and interpretation, and serves the teaching staff, family, and students of all categories, including those with disabilities. It is hoped that it will be launched at the next session’s ceremony.”

The honoring ceremony included selected readings by four of the students participating in the competition, an operetta entitled: “Light Shined” presented by a group of students, a visual presentation by students with visual and intellectual disabilities, and honoring (91) organizers, competition committees, and students participating in the competition, as well as (73) winners in the various competition tracks.

The Ministry seeks to support the Holy Quran Competition for students at the schools of the Sultanate of Oman on an annual basis, and to care for it, to enhance the importance of the Holy Quran in the souls of students, and to gain them an Islamic identity, and to serve the curricula of Islamic education in all educational stages. It also aims to improve the linguistic balance, and to gain the student the ability to read correctly with recitation and in a good voice, and to revive the spirit of competition, and the love of learning, and to qualify students to participate in local and international competitions.
