More than (120) thousand students in grades 10 and 11 enrolled in government and private schools in various educational directorates in the governorates continue selecting their academic subjects for grades 11 and 12 for the academic year (2025/2026) until February 27, 2025, according to the approved study plan for selecting academic subjects.
The subjects selection period allows students the opportunity to choose the subjects they will study in the coming years. Registering for these subjects is done via the educational portal’s website through a subject selection form, based on their personal abilities and professional inclinations that help in determining their academic paths and future professional paths.
Regarding the subjects selection period, Sheikh Yaqoub Al-Shuhimi, Director-General of the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center, said: “The Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center has worked since the beginning of the academic year to educate students and prepare them to choose their academic subjects through various educational activities and different awareness methods. The center has also issued a number of guides, brochures, programs, and designs that assist students in the stage of choosing their academic subjects. The center issued the annual guide for academic tracks for the academic year 2024/2025; to be one of the basic tools in helping students link their academic subjects to academic specializations in medicine, engineering, education, technology, and other specializations.”
About (800) career guidance specialists in various governorates are working to educate students on choosing their academic subjects, which began at the beginning of the academic year by implementing a set of activities and programs represented in the Professional Inclinations and Entrepreneurial Traits Scale, the Professional Inclinations Scale for the Visually Impaired, the Your Career Path booklet, and professional activities for grades 10 and 11, in cooperation with subject teachers to explain the content of the curricula and train students on the subject selection form and explain the instructions contained therein.
Career guidance specialists in schools make extra effort to educate parents about the steps of choosing academic subjects, answer their inquiries, and clarify their supportive role in guiding their children according to their personal abilities and professional inclinations and choosing the academic specialization they wish to join, and reviewing the needs of the labor market based on reports and indicators issued by officials in this field.
