The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad, implemented a four-day training camp for students who qualified for the fourth session of the Arab Mathematics Olympiad. The training camp comes in preparation for participation in the Arab Mathematics Olympiad, which will be held in Qatar from November 10-14, organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
During the camp days, the participating students acquired many skills and gained more knowledge that would help them to compete, as they were trained on how to solve Olympiad questions in various topics including algebra, number theory, geometry, and combinations.
The importance of the Arab Mathematics Olympiad competition lies in the fact that it is a periodic competition for students from member countries of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). It seeks to create the appropriate environment to raise scientific competition among students from participating countries and contribute to enriching curricula and developing education. It aims to enhance areas of communication between students and discover their creativity in mathematics, enhance their confidence in themselves and in the abilities, talents, and scientific creativity they possess, and direct them to invest their abilities, thus contributing to creating an aware and empowered generation.
It is worth noting that the test is conducted in one day, for four and a half hours. The first half hour at the beginning of the test is allocated to students’ written inquiries. The test consists of four questions, and based on the students’ results, they are awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals.
