Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continues Learning in cooperation with Ministry of Defense, continues the implementation of training program sponsored by Oman Liquefied Natural Gas LLC titled: “Developing Skills of Employees in Special Education to activate Sensory Hall”. The training program Lasts for 3 weeks, targeting 12 trainees from senior supervisors, and teachers from the governorates and is held at Al-Amal Occupational Therapy and Rehab Center in Armed Forces Hospital.
Specialist from Armed Forces Hospital present the program by explaining the Sensory Hall and its importance for the Special Education Students, plus the tools and ways to utilize each tool for the right condition, as well as practical training in using the equipment’s in the sensory hall to develop student’s Perceptual skills, eye contact, managing high-energy, and limiting stereotypical behaviors.
The program aims at preparing a complete stimulating sensory hall to develop communication skills, and interaction with every student effortlessly, enhancing the services to the disabled students in special education schools and programs.
Dr. Thuraya Al-Rashidi the Director-General of the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Leaning said: “this program is part of a plan to continue the project of the Sensory Hall and train the employees in the field of Special Education on activating the hall to improve the services for disabled students while providing them with all the necessities to improve their educational and social skills according to the newest model”.
