The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Education, “Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department”, came in first at the Arab level in the “Intermediate Stage” category in the Sheikha Fadia Al-Saad Al-Sabah Scientific Competition for Research and Projects for Girls in Kuwait, for the academic year 2023/2024. The wining project is “Biocide from Jasmine Leaves” by students Rahaf bint Walid Al-Shili and Fatima bint Yousef Al-Ma’awli, grade 9 students at Durrat Al-Hashemia Basic Education School in South Al-Batinah Governorate, under the supervision of Suad Al-Hasani, Biology teacher.

The first day of the competition included student exhibition and dialogue sessions for a number of academics titled: Education of the Future (Innovation and Technology for Sustainability). The second day included dialogue sessions for a group of academics and specialists on Education of the Future (Creative Skills for Effective Sustainable Education), and a ceremony announcing the results under the patronage of Sheikha Fadia Al-Saad Al-Sabah.

The Sultanate of Oman's participation in the competition aims to explore various global ideas, innovations, and technical projects, enhance students' skills, and develop their scientific and practical capabilities in the field of innovation, enrich their knowledge, raise efficiency and readiness, and build scientific and practical experiences according to global methodologies.

It is worth noting that the Sheikha Fadia Al-Saad Al-Sabah Scientific Competition for Research and Projects for Girls was launched in 1999 and is an annual scientific competition organized for female students in middle and high school. It involves presenting scientific innovations according to the STEAM approach in the environmental field in the middle school stage, and in the technical field in its broader areas for the high school stage. This year, a number of twelve countries are participating in the competition.
