The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Information Technology, is implementing the Information Security Training Program for Technicians. The program targets support technicians in the educational directorates in the governorates with a number of (30) technicians from each educational directorate. The program is implemented over the course of one week for each training group.
The training program covers the basic concepts of cybersecurity, helping technicians understand the importance of protecting data and school systems, as well as presenting the various hacking methods hackers use to target information and how to counter them, with a focus on the risks of social engineering that exploits human factors to access sensitive information. In addition, the program presents the encryption mechanism as a pillar to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of information, explains the basics of web security, protecting networks and school websites, and also highlights the role of firewalls in monitoring and protecting data, as well as using technology as a means to ensure the safe transfer of data.
The training program also explains the concept of cyber forensics as a tool to investigate and analyze digital incidents, and reviews cyber immunity strategies to enhance the immunity of individuals and institutions against cyber-attacks. This program provides technicians in schools with the necessary tools to protect school data and the digital environment in general, which enhances digital immunity and makes schools a safer and more reliable environment for everyone.
Adil Al-Jabri, Director of the Technical Support and Device Management Department at the Directorate-General of Information Technology, spoke about the training program, saying: This program aims to provide these technicians with basic and advanced skills in protecting information and maintaining devices to ensure their safe and efficient operation, as they are the first line of defense against daily cyber threats, and being responsible for maintaining systems, updating software, and adjusting firewall settings, which ensures the protection of school networks from potential attacks. The program covers multiple topics such as web security and cyber immunity, in line with the ministry’s strategy to enhance cybersecurity in educational institutions.
