HE Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al-Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, is patronizing this morning (Wednesday) at Al Bustan Palace Hotel theopening of the ISESCO Education Ministers Conference under the slogan: "Beyond the Transforming Education Summit: From Commitments to Applications", in the presence of HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibaniya, Minister of Education - Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and with the participation of more than (31) of Their Excellencies the Ministers and Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries, Heads of Delegations of the Ministries of Education of the Islamic World, Directors-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), a number of experts and representatives of organizations and agencies affiliated with the United Nations and international and regional organizations concerned with the education sector, and a number of decision-makers and academics in this field.
On the importance of this conference, Dr. Mahmoud bin Abdullah Al-Abri, Secretary of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, said: “This conference comes in light of the global changes that the world is witnessing, accompanied by challenges facing the global education system. Therefore, the Transforming Education Summit, which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York in 2022, stressed the importance of setting national commitments and charters for each country to transform education. In line with these global trends, this conference, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, comes with the participation of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Education from various countries of the Islamic world, and a number of directors-general and representatives of international and regional organizations concerned with the education sector.”
He added: “This conference includes, during its two days, discussion sessions presented by experts and specialists in the field of education and artificial intelligence, in addition to interventions by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Education in the countries of the Islamic world, addressing the topics: "The Global Education Perspective: International Organizations and Multilateral Partnership for Transforming Education", "Best Practices in Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Digital Tools to Transform Education", and "Green Education: A Sustainable Future for All", in addition to holding procedural sessions, and a closing session entitled: "United for Education in Crises and Emergencies". It is also hoped that the conference will issue the "Muscat Declaration", which is a roadmap on the mechanism for implementing the Summit on Transforming Education in Islamic Countries.
