The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Outward Bound Oman Foundation, begins implementing the “On the Green Path” training program for the second group of green class female students in the Omani Green Schools participating in the second edition of the project from six educational directorates in the governorates, which are: Muscat Governorate, North Al Batinah Governorate, South Al Batinah Governorate, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The training course was implemented last week for the first group of green school students, which targeted (25) students from the educational directorates participating in the project. 

About the program, HE Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, said: “The training course “On the Green Path” represents the practical application of the Green Schools Project as the green goals and skills are translated into reality through direct interaction with nature. Students contemplate the environmental sites and natural phenomena that surround them, then interact with them through a series of enrichment activities and interactive educational strategies with the environment. There is no doubt that such types of courses refine the student’s personality and enable them to possess scientific research and innovation skills. It also gives them self-confidence and reliance on it to solve environmental problems.”  

The training course includes a number of skills presented to the participating students, including volunteer work skills, experiential learning, cooperative learning, exploration, and sections on contemplating nature. The course also includes an introductory tour of the Outward Bound Oman Foundation, and an overview of its design and objectives. The training course contributes to achieving many advantages, including introducing students to climate issues, searching for appropriate solutions to reduce their occurrence, developing participants’ skills in the areas of leadership and problem solving, encouraging students to green innovation, and investing in environmental projects. 

The training course “On the Green Path” aims to deliver the concepts of sustainability, green education, understand the importance of biodiversity, analyze the impact of climate changes on Oman vision and economic diversification, and apply sustainable practices in dealing with the environment.
