Educational Research Forum concluded with Emphasis on the Importance of Spreading Scientific Research and Innovation Culture

The Educational Research Forum organized by the Ministry of Education, represented by the Specialized Center for Professional Training of Teachers concludes its sessions yesterday, Wednesday, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. The forum enjoyed a participation of international speakers ISESCO, ALSCO, the Arab Education Bureau for the Gulf States, and Sultan Qaboos University. The forum is taking place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center and continues for three consecutive days, with the participation of more than 300 participants from specialists, decision-makers, academics, and the educational body, including teachers, school principals, administrative supervisors, and trainers, and the presentation of 72 papers.

The Educational Research Forum came out with a number of proposals and visions included calling for the continuation of holding the Educational Research Forum to encourage researchers to continue their efforts in the fields of scientific research, exchanging research experiences between participants and various categories of the educational staff, and strengthening the participation of local, regional and international institutions, with a focus on institutions concerned with the field of scientific research. Among the proposals and visions that the forum came out with are expanding the categories of participants and the numbers of participating research studies, emphasizing the importance of spreading the culture of scientific research and developing innovation, generalizing the benefit of the results of the participating research papers and employing their results in formulating sustainable educational development visions, and developing trends towards e-learning and focusing on training teachers on artificial intelligence tools

The third and final day of the forum included the presentation of 36 papers in six synchronous sessions. The first session was headed by Dr. Nor Al Najjar from Sultan Qaboos University and the session included six papers. The first paper was titled “Post-Basic Education Teachers’ Practice of Human Relations and its Relationship to Students’ Learning Motivation and Psychological Health” presented

by Dr. Abdullah Al Rumhi. The second paper was titled “EFL Teachers’ Use of Learners’L1 in Cycle Two Schools in Oman” presented by Badr Al Ghafri. The third paper was titled “Quality of School Administration Supervision Methods and their Relationship to Quality of Performance of Government School Principals in Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman” presented by Al Busaidi. The fourth paper was titled “Teachers’ Training Needs for Digital Competencies” presented by Dr. Amirah Al Shabibi. The fifth paper was titles “Proposed Training Program for School Leaders in the Sultanate of Oman on Planning Practices of the Kaufman Model in Light of Needs and Challenges of Reality” presented by Fadiya Al Hosni. The sixth paper was titled “How Task Based Language Teaching Can Reduce the Use of L1?” presented by Amirah Al Farsi.

The second session also included six papers and was headed by Dr. Ysra Al Sinani from Sultan Qaboos University. The first paper was titled “Effectiveness of Virtual Laboratory on Grade 8 Students’ Spatial Ability” presented by Dr. Fatma Al Dohani. The second paper was titled “The Influence of the Think-Pair-Share Strategy on the Development of Grade 10 Students’ Oral and Communication Skills in Oman” presented by Jawaher Al Abri. The third paper was titled “The Extent to which Islamic Education Books in the Second Cycle of Basic Education in the Sultanate of Oman meet the Students’ Needs” presented by Khalsa Al Hinai. The fourth paper was titled “Effectiveness of Teaching with Chants in Islamic Education on the Academic Achievement of Grade 5 Students and the Persistence of the Learning Effect” presented by Khadeeja Al Mufreji. The fifth paper was titled “The Impact of a Training Program on Developing Teaching Skills Based on the Inquiry Method among Grade 4 Science Teachers in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate” presented by Dr. Abdullah Al Khamisi. The sixth paper was titled “The Effectiveness of Blended Learning Based on Electronic Games in Increasing Grade 5 Students’ Motivation towards Learning Mathematics” presented by Mustafa Al Abri.

The third session included the presentation of six papers and was headed by Dr. Naser Al Ghanbosi from the Ministry of Education. The first paper was titled “Degree of Availability of Organizational Health Dimensions in Basic Education Schools in North Al Batinah Governorate in light of Distance Education from Teachers’ Point of View” presented by Dr. Ali Al Belushi. The second paper was titled “Mediating Effect of Administrative Innovation in the Relationship Between School Principals’ Practice of Participatory Leadership and the Performance of Basic Education Teachers in the Sultanate of Oman” presented by Dr. Abdullah Al Kaabi. Sumaiya Al Maamari presented the third paper titled “Impact of a Training Program in Improving the Self-Efficacy of Teachers in the Category of Gifted Students with

Learning Difficulties.” The fourth paper was titled “Effectiveness of Using Solver Math Microsoft Software in Acquiring Algebra Concepts among Grade 9 Students and their Motivation towards Learning Mathematics” presented by Saif Al Khatri. The fifth paper was titled “Effectiveness of a Vocational Guidance Program to Develop the Aspirations of Grade 10 Students in South Al Batinah Governorate” presented by Rania Al Belushi. The sixth paper was titled “Effect of Parental Upbringing Styles on Academic Achievement in Light of Achievement Goal Orientations (2×2) as a Mediating Variable among Grade 10 Students in the Sultanate of Oman” presented by Fahima Al Saidi.

The fourth session also included six papers and was headed by Prof. Dr. Rashid Al Mehrzi from Sultan Qaboos University. The first paper was titled “Effectiveness of a Program Based on Creative Imagination Strategies in Developing Contemplative and Future Thinking Skills among Grade 10 Students in North Al Batinah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman” presented by Dr. Kareema Al Heraizi. The second paper was titled “Effect of Using the Deans Division Software in Developing the Division Skill and the Attitude towards it among Grade 6 Students” presented by Maimona Al Qasmi. The third paper was titled “The Percentage of Availability of Twenty-First Century Skills in Reading Lesson Activities in My Beautiful Language Books for Grades 5 and 6 in the Sultanate of Oman” presented by Sharifa Al Belushi. The fourth paper was titled “Evaluating Quality of Service in Training Centers Affiliated with the Directorates of Education in the Sultanate of Oman Using the Gap between Perceptions and Expectations Scale” presented by Safiya Al Tobi. The fifth paper was titled “Proposed Strategy for Implementing Professional Learning Communities in the School Environment in Government Schools in Muscat Governorate” presented by Muna Al Salmi. The sixth paper was titled “Oman Grade 11 EFL Teachers’ Written Corrective Feedback on Students Writing and Students’ Perceptions of it” presented by Amani Al Kalbani.

The fifth session also included the presentation of six papers and was headed by Dr. Waleed Al Hashmi. The first paper was titled “Effect of Teaching According to SCAMPER Strategy in Developing Innovative Thinking in Mathematics among Grade 9 Students in the Sultanate of Oman” presented by Khalid Al Shidi. The second paper was titled “Impact of Applying Governance Rules on Developing Performance in Educational Institutions (the Directorate-General of Education in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman as a Model)” presented by Dr. Ali Al Yarubi. The third paper was titled “Evaluating the Content of Science Textbook for Grade 4 in the Sultanate of Oman in Light of TIMSS Requirements” presented by Aisha Al Jassasi. The fourth paper was titled “The Extent to which

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Standards are Included in the Content of the Omani Science Curricula Developed for Grades (1-6) in the Sultanate of Oman.” Presented by Ateiya Al Hamdi. The fifth paper was titled “Evaluation of the Science Experts Program at the Specialized Institute for Professional Training of Teachers in the Sultanate of Oman in Light of the Kirk Patrick Model” presented by Haitham Al Belushi. The sixth paper was titled “The Effectiveness of Professional Learning Communities in Developing Skill of Grade 7 Science Teachers in Employing the Mind Mapping Strategy in Eight Private Schools in Muscat Governorate for the academic year 2021-2022” presented by Amal Al Husseini.

The sixth and final session of the forum included the presentation of six papers and was headed by Dr. Qasim Al Ajmi. The first paper was titled “Proposed Scenario for Developing the Performance of Basic Education School Principals in Crisis Management in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate” presented by Ahmed Al Ruqaishi. The second paper was titled “Role of Emotional Intelligence as a Mediating Variable in Predicting Self-motivation and Ability to Solve Mathematical Problems among Grade 4 Students in Al Musannah” presented by Asmaa Al-Balushi. The third paper was titled “Effect of Using the IMPROVE Strategy in Acquiring Concepts of (Limitations and Algebraic Functions)” presented by Ashraf Al-Saadi. The fourth paper was titled “Effectiveness of Training Grade 4 Students at Asmaa Bint Umais School for Basic Education (8-1) in Al-Dhahirah Governorate on Mental Arithmetic Strategies in Improving Performance in Finding Results of Arithmetic Operations on Numbers.” Presented by Anwar Al-Muqbali. The fifth paper was titled “Cooperation in the Holy Qur’an and Its Applications from an Islamic Perspective” presented by Basemah Al-Khasibi. The sixth and final paper of the day was titled “Educational Supervisors’ Practice of Diverse Supervision as Perceived by Teachers in Post-Basic Education Schools in Muscat Governorate” presented by Muna Al Alawi.

It is worth noting that the forum focuses on four basic topics, namely: developing the school education system, improving learning outcomes, raising the quality of school education, and developing the professional competencies of teachers. The forum comes with the aim of presenting international educational visions in the field of research, exchanging research experiences between various educational groups, and developing educational research by reviewing the results of studies and procedural research supervised by the Specialized Institute, and aligning educational research with the development needs of the educational field.
