The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, organizes the annual meeting of directors of educational supervision departments and their assistants in the presence of HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Education, and Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jamoudi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision. Participating in the two-days meeting 33 directors and their assistants from the educational supervision departments in the educational directorates in the governorates.
HE Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Education, said: “Educational supervision is the main focus of the educational process, because it provides support and assistance to the teacher, and the better the supervisory work is, the more this is reflected in the educational process. There were challenges related to the lack of supervisory cadres, and we have begun to return to our energies, by empowering educational directorates with regard to supervisors in all sectors.”
HE stressed in his speech that development in the Ministry of Education is proceeding at a clear pace, and everyone can see it. The School Education Law constitutes a milestone in this aspect, and the main committee responsible for preparing the executive regulations for this law continues its work, and soon many regulations related to education will appear, such as: regulations for student affairs, volunteering, parents’ councils, and private schools.
Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jamoudi delivered the Ministry’s speech, in which he said: “We meet today to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and science to advance teachers and this reflects on the student. There are many developments in supervisory work, including, finalizing the draft for selecting supervisory cadres and school cadres, and the system for computerizing nomination procedures for the position of school principal, assistant school principal, senior teacher, and other supervisory positions, and preparing for the third school administration forum. Challenges face the educational work in general, and supervisory work in particular,
and we work with your efforts in the educational directorates to address these challenges through appropriate strategies and methods.”
On the first day, a number of papers were presented, as the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision presented a number of papers on the latest developments in educational supervision on a number of topics. Darwish Al-Kayoumi, Director of the Human Sciences Supervision Department, began with a paper entitled: “Building Objectives in Supervisory Work,” and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rumhi, Assistant Director of the Department, presented a paper on the induction program for new teachers. Awatif Al-Zadjali, Assistant Director of the Individual Skills Supervision Department presented a paper entitled: “Developments in Individual Skills Subjects.” Dr. Khadija Al-Balushi, Director of the Applied Sciences Supervision Department presented a paper on the methodology of educational supervision teams, and Dr. Hajar Al-Saadi, Assistant Director of the School Administration Supervision Department, presented a paper entitled: “Self-evaluation”, then Dr. Faisal Al Busaidi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Information Technology, presented a paper entitled: “Leading supervisory work using artificial intelligence.” Dr. Atom Al Khatri, Assistant Director of the Office of the Project for Developing the Educational Ladder, and its Structure, delivered a paper on the “School Education Development Project, and its Structure.” The first day of the meeting concluded with a paper from the Center for Educational Measurement and Evaluation entitled: “The Philosophy of Student Evaluation in the Education System in the Sultanate of Oman, and its Developments.”
On the second day, Tuesday, the annual meeting of directors of educational supervision departments and their assistants continues its work, where the Specialized Institute for professional Training of Teachers presents a paper entitled: Developments at the Specialized Institute for Professional Training of Teachers. The Directorate-General of Educational Supervision presents a number of papers on the electronic preparation platform and computerizing the procedures for candidacy for educational supervision positions and the school administration. The Directorate-General of Planning and Strategic Development presents a paper entitled: Building and preparing school formations and members of the educational body. The second day of the annual meeting of directors of educational supervision departments and their assistants will conclude with a discussion session with the Office of the Individual Performance System, and a discussion of the Individual Performance System (Ejada ).
