The Ministry of Education, represented by the Applied Sciences Supervision Department, in cooperation with the Mathematics Unit at South Al Batinah Educational Directorate, implemented a virtual seminar entitled: “Teaching Mathematics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges.”

This seminar aims to develop the capabilities of supervisors and teachers in investing in opportunities to employ artificial intelligence techniques in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics. The seminar also aims to introduce supervisors to successful experiences about employing artificial intelligence in teaching mathematics, and to develop supervisors’ skills in enabling teachers to use artificial intelligence in data analysis, to understand student performance and improve educational programs. It also seeks developing the capabilities of supervisors in developing methods and strategies for teaching mathematics using artificial intelligence, solving problems related to the repercussions of using artificial intelligence in education, and raising supervisors’ awareness of the role of artificial intelligence in increasing opportunities for professional growth for mathematics teachers.

The seminar covered a number of topics, including presenting the experience of the South Al Batinah Governorate’s supervision in employing artificial intelligence in mathematics, and employing artificial intelligence in data analysis, to understand student performance, improve educational programs, and the role of artificial intelligence in increasing professional growth opportunities for mathematics teachers, and improving teaching methods and strategies in mathematics using artificial intelligence, and the implications of using artificial intelligence in education.
