The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, signed an agreement with OMEFCO yesterday, Tuesday, morning to finance the construction project of the Ibn Al Nazr Center for Science and Innovation in Samael. The agreement was signed by HE Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Fanna Al Araimi, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communications at OMEFCO.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Saif Al-Jalandani, Director-General of the Directorate, Ali Al-Shukaili, Assistant Director-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs in the Directorate, Saif Al-Hashimi, Director of Information Technology Department in the Directorate, Hilal Al-Alawi, Director of the Projects and Services Department in the Directorate, Dr. Hanan Al-Rawahi, Director of the Education Department in Samael, Abdullah Al-Alawi, the OMEFCO’s Senior Corporate Communications Officer, and Mohammed Al-Farsi, Sustainability and Institutional Communications Officer at OMEFCO. The agreement was signed at the Ministry’s General Diwan.
The agreement aims to achieve effective community partnership, represented by financial funding to build the center, and create an effective scientific environment based on awareness and deep knowledge of the importance of investigation and scientific research. The center aims at keeping pace with technical development in all its forms among students, expanding scientific horizons, developing scientific imagination, and exploration in scientific and cultural fields for various segments of students and members of society, enhancing the love of innovation among young people and stimulating their potential in the field of innovation, which contributes to creating a generation that meets the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 in raising the innovation indicator and the knowledge-based economy.
HE Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Financial and Administrative Affairs, stated: “The Ministry seeks to create an educational
environment that stimulates creativity and innovation, by building the mental capabilities of students, developing their creative thinking ability, refining their skills, and discovering their talents. Based on the principle of partnership between the Ministry and sector institutions, in particular, the Ministry signed this agreement with the company to support and finance the establishment of the center, according to 3D printer technology, which is hoped to contribute to enhancing the culture of creativity and innovation, competition between students and teachers alike, and promotes sustainable development. We can only extend our thanks to the company for its kind and appreciated efforts, and its support to the Ministry in this field, as it has a significant impact on improving the quality of education service.”
Mohammed Al-Farsi, Sustainability and Institutional Communications Officer at OMEFCO, explained: “This agreement came within the company's social responsibility programs to support education and capacity building, and from the standpoint of the permanent partnership between the company and the ministry to support the educational process, by enhancing learning based on investigation skills, scientific research and innovation, the center provides a range of services to the educational staff, students, and the surrounding community, by taking advantage of the various innovations and developments in robots, artificial intelligence, nano lab, renewable energy, and innovative.”
