The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning - Department of Educational Activities and Professional Guidance, implemented a student talent forum for special education schools, under the patronage of Hamad Al Rashidi, Advisor to the Minister of Education for Administrative Affairs, and coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities. The forum took place at the lobby in the Ministry's General Diwan.
The forum is a space to showcase students’ abilities and talents in a supportive and stimulating environment through the participation of a group of specialists in the field of art and literary and craft creativity. It aims to highlight students’ talents, interact with their unique challenges in a positive way, enhance social interaction, and enhance a sense of pride in themselves. The forum also aims to inspire them to pursue their passions and success in their own paths, create a kind of communication between them and members of society, develop the artistic and creative skills of special education students, in addition to enhancing the comprehensive development of special education students and enabling them to achieve their potential.
The forum included an interactive exhibition for a variety of student talents, and a presentation of the products of the training workshops that were implemented during the first week of this month, December. The exhibition included four corners: the craft corner, which includes various craft workshops, and a display of handmade products made by students, and the artistic corner, which included an art workshop with specialists, and a presentation of artistic paintings with technical drawing, in addition to displaying sculptures made by students, and the scientific corner which included scientific projects presented and robotics racing circuit between the Omar Bin Al-Khattab Institute for the Blind and Al-Amal School for the Deaf, and the literary talents corner in which special education students displayed their talents in recitation and poetry.
About the workshops accompanying the exhibition, Mona Al-Akhzami, School Activities Supervisor, said: “The workshops accompanying the Student Talents Exhibition for People with Disabilities were launched for a full week, coinciding with the world’s celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities. The workshops varied in the field of ceramics, accessories, wood sculptures, and arts, and were implemented by specialists in the field of art and literary creativity. The number of students participating in the workshops was approximately 50 students from special education schools.”
