Within the framework of the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Education, private and government agencies in learning and exchanging experiences in several fields, the most prominent of which is the technical and artistic field, the Ministry of Education received , a student delegation from Gulf College. The visiting delegation seeks to learn about the most important services and programs the Ministry provides in the field of artificial intelligence and smart applications in education.

The visit program included a number of papers, presented in turns by a number of directors and heads of departments. Adel Al-Jabri, Assistant Director of the Technical Support and Equipment Management Department, gave a presentation on the tasks and sections of the department, the Technical Support Department, the Device Management Department, and the Specifications Development Department. Then he touched on the department’s projects, including, but not limited to, the computer equipment replacement project, the printing solutions project, the specifications laboratory for e-sports, and the certified technical trainer project. Said Al-Kalbani, Digital Services Specialist in the Digital Services Department, presented a paper in which he talked about the ministry’s efforts in artificial intelligence, and future plans for that. Said Al Wahaibi, Head of the Portal Interface Department, discussed the role of digital services and digital awareness in the Ministry, and the portal’s educational windows, its upcoming development, and the future vision of artificial intelligence.

Fatima Al Owaisi, Assistant Director of the Information Systems Department, reviewed the role of information systems in the Ministry, the effort made in preparing and managing the systems, and the technical solutions provided. Sultan Al Yarubi, Head of the Systems Management Department, presented a paper in which he defined the department’s tasks, the systems that the department manages, and the methods of receiving feedback and developing the systems used. Badr Al Balushi from the Smart Applications Development Department spoke about the department’s role in preparing smart applications in the Ministry and creating and developing management of smart phone applications in the Google and Apple stores. Mahmoud Al Waeli from the Networks and Communications Department also presented a paper on the Department of Networks and Communications, and on the Operations Department that is concerned with user management, application infrastructure management, and databases.

Engineer Maryam Al-Tarshi, head of the Networks Department in the Department of Networks and Communications, presented a paper on providing a wired and wireless network for the Ministry’s General Diwan building and its affiliated buildings, and Engineer Amira Al-Omairi, Head of the Network Security Department, participated with a paper in which she spoke about protecting and securing the Ministry’s internal network and the Educational Portal network, protecting buildings in educational directorates that are connected through the unified government link, and following up on the installation of anti-virus on the Ministry’s devices and servers, and analyzing them. Intisar Al-Siyabi, Head of the Communications Department, spoke about the tasks of the Communications Department and the communications system in the ministry, and the search for new technologies in the field of communications, the Internet in the ministry’s General Diwan, and schools. The papers were concluded with a paper presented by Engineer Said Al Habsi, head of the Data Center Department, in which he talked about managing the data center in the ministry and server rooms in its buildings, schools, copies management, the data center monitoring mechanism, and server rooms. The student delegation also visited the technical development laboratory and the specifications laboratory.

The visit aims to exchange experiences in the scientific and practical fields, visions in the technical and artistic fields, cooperate in the educational fields, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, and get acquainted with the departments and sections of the Directorate-General of Information Technology.
