The Ministry of Education launched the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovations, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence was launched yesterday, in collaboration with OMEFCO. The exciting student’s competitiveness in scientific innovations, robotics, and drone competitions at the Olympiad continue until Thursday in the Grand Hall at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

In the students scientific innovations, a number of (121) students compete, representing (68) innovations from all educational directorates in the governorates, distributed over (4) fields, namely: engineering systems and energy, in which (19) innovations compete, and the field of biological and environmental sciences with (21) innovations competing in it, (19) innovations compete in the field of information technology, and (9) innovations compete in the field of science and mathematics. Participating student innovations are evaluated by academic specialists and researchers from various educational institutions, according to special evaluation forms focusing on originality, novelty, scientific strength, and other evaluation criteria.

In the robotics competitions, (66) students are competing, representing (33) teams at three levels: grade level (5-6), grade level (7-8), and grade level (9-11). In the drone competitions, (20) students representing (10) teams compete. The competitions are held in three categories. The classification process comes to provide the opportunity to achieve equal competition for the participating teams, each at their level, as the participating teams are given different programming challenges in each stage of the process, and in light of which, competitions are held.

The Olympiad is accompanied by the Second Scientific Innovation Forum, which targets heads of innovation and scientific Olympiad departments and specialists in educational directorates in the governorates. During the forum, a set of interactive papers are presented on the importance of innovation in our lives, registering and protecting intellectual property for scientific innovations, ways to follow up with student teams participating in scientific Olympiads, and ways of training and following up, including practical discussion.

The results of the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovations, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence will be announced at the annual ceremony of the Knowledge Development Program, on the third day, Thursday. The Olympiad is a translation of the efforts made by the Ministry to support and enhance innovative students. It also supports the skills and capabilities necessary to create environments with a high degree of high competitiveness, enrolling them in advanced development programs and participating in prestigious international competitions.
