HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education and Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, met with a number of Their Excellencies the heads of delegations of member states of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and a number of officials from organizations participating in the forty-second session of the General Conference for UNESCO. This meeting comes on the sidelines of her heading the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman participating in this session, which is currently being held during the period (7-22) of November at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.
HE met at the organization’s headquarters with HE Ali Al-Boughdiri, Tunisian Minister of Education. During the meeting, the two Ministers reviewed the existing cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Tunisia in the educational field and discussed the prospects for developing it in various educational aspects through activating the executive program for joint educational cooperation based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in April 2017. Ways of benefiting from the educational experiences of both sides in the areas of digital transformation in education, technical and vocational education, pre-school education, and other educational fields were also discussed. From the Omani side, HE Dr. Hamad Al Hamami, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO, attended the meeting with Mahdi Al-Zein, Director-General of International Cooperation, and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tunisia to UNESCO.
On the other hand, HE the Minister of Education reviewed with HE Dr. Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the strong cooperation relations existing between the Sultanate of Oman and the organization in all fields related to the organization’s work, and ways to develop them to broader horizons. The two parties praised the results achieved by the visit made by HE the Director-General of ISESCO to the Sultanate of Oman last May, where HE was honored to meet with His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Ministers Council Affairs, on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. HE also met with a number of senior officials in sectors related to the organization’s
work, and the two parties discussed the appropriate work mechanism to translate these results into a tangible reality in order to achieve the maximum benefit for the Sultanate of Oman from all of the organization’s programs, activities, and various events.
The meeting was attended by Amna Al Balushi, Secretary of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and Sulaiman Al Mabsali, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO. Dr. Salim Al Habsi, Director of the Organization’s National Committees Programs, was also present from the organization’s side.
HE Dr. Madiha Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education, discussed with HE Dr. Musa Al-Magarif, Minister of Education in the Republic of Libya, the joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the field of school education in its various stages and components. The Libyan minister expressed her country’s desire to benefit from the Omani experience in the field of school education, within the framework of the Libyan government’s approach to developing its educational system. The two sides agreed to hold joint meetings on visual communication technology between educational officials in various sectors in order to exchange successful experiences, especially with regard to educational evaluation, technical and vocational education, and digital transformation.
HE also met with HE Qassem Abdini, Undersecretary of Education for Science, Research and Technology in the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of educational cooperation between the two countries and ways to develop it in all fields, exchanging experiences in technical and vocational education, and cooperation in the field of higher education and in the field of nanotechnology. The meeting was attended by HE Dr. Hamad Al Hamami, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO, and a number of educational officials from both sides.
