HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education and Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, left today (Monday) to the French capital, Paris to head the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman participating in the forty-second session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which will be held during the period from 7 to 22 of November at the organization’s headquarters, with the participation of delegations of the member states and representatives of a number of international, civil society and civil community organizations. The delegation included HE Ambassador Dr. Hamad bin Saif Al Hamami, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the UNESCO, and Amna bint Salem Al Balushi, Secretary of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. Also, part of the delegation, representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Environment Agency, Sultan Qaboos University, and the General Authority for Academic Accreditation and Assurance of Education Quality. This is to attend a number of specialized committees emanating from the General Conference in education, culture, science, and communication.
HE the Minister of Education and Head of the delegation, will deliver the Sultanate of Oman’s speech before the General Conference on December 8th. The program for opening of this session includes a speech by the Director-General of the Organization, a speech by the President of the Executive Council, the approval of the agenda of the session, and the election of the President of the General Conference, Vice-Presidents, Committee Chairs, Vice-Chairs, and Rapporteurs. It will discuss the Director-General’s report on the organization’s activities in the period (2018-2021), as well as a report on the activities and programs of the organization’s Executive Council. At the end of the session, the members of the Executive Council will be elected.
