Ministry of Education implements Training Program on Network Protection Systems and Dealing with Firewalls

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Information Technology – Department of Networks and Communications – implemented today (Monday) a training seminar on “Network Protection Systems and the Mechanism for Dealing with Firewalls.” The training seminar targeted twenty-eight network technicians and engineers in the educational directorate in the governorates. The seminar took place at the Hormuz Grand Hotel, Muscat.

The seminar was presented by Eng. Ahmed Al-Ajrad, a sales consultant for security solutions for data centers, at Mohsen Haider Darwish Information Technology Company. The seminar included an introduction to the second-generation firewall (Storm Shield), which is an important security system used in the field of securing networks and computer systems. The introduction also highlighted some of its common features such as detecting threats, the ability to conduct deep inspections, protecting against advanced threats, protecting networks and systems from electronic attacks and security threats, maintaining data confidentiality, and stabilizing the IT infrastructure. The seminar also included a virtual presentation of installing licenses for the Ministry’s security protection system which consisted of presentation of the company information, software licensing, basic steps, system requirements and installation procedures.

The training seminar aimed at identifying the most important settings needed to be set on the firewall, and at honing the skills of technicians and engineers in the mechanism of dealing with the firewall.
