The Ministry of Education organized a ceremony announcing the Educational Excellence Award for the Omani Teacher in its second edition, under the patronage of HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, and in the presence of a number of directors general in the Ministry’s General Diwan, the educational directorates in the governorates, and a number of teachers. It is a national educational award granted every two academic years to good Omani teachers in public schools to highlight and enhance their efforts in the educational field.

The ceremony included a speech by the Ministry of Education, delivered by HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Education, in which he said: “The Ministry wanted to continue this award to sharpen the motivation of teachers and empower them for creativity and innovation in the educational process. The Educational Excellence Award focuses on the teacher as the active element in the educational system, and the Ministry has worked hard to maintain the financial value of the competition to be a motivating award for teachers to continue and progress in this award. A supervisory committee was formed to review the themes and review the indicators, and another committee worked on amending the indicators, and technical committees will begin their work with registration in the award. I call on all Omani teachers in government schools to register in this award and participate with their creativity and proficiency in the educational process.

Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jamoudi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, presented a paper on the latest developments in the Educational Excellence Award for the Omani Teacher. After that, Said Al-Wahaibi, Head of the Educational Portal Interface Management Department, gave a presentation to introduce the site. The award was presented in the educational portal, and Sultan Al Shuraqi, Senior Information Systems Specialist, reviewed the registration form and process.

The award begins at the beginning of the academic year in September/October and continues for two academic years. It is evaluated in two stages: the first is the

automated sorting stage by an electronic system, according to specific fields and standard in order to determine the teachers who qualify for the second stage. The qualified teachers in the second stage are invited to fill out the application form for the award through the designated website through filling out the special electronic form (with uploading required attachments).

Through this award, the Ministry of Education seeks to enhance the status of the Omani teacher, encourage them to be creative and proficient, highlight their roles in developing students’ skills, the educational environment, and community partnership, motivate Omani teachers who are distinguished scientifically, pedagogically, and technically, and encourage their efforts in developing educational work.
