The Ministry of Education, represented by the Omani School Sports Association, implemented yesterday (Sunday) morning a training program titled “Planning Skills for the Sports Path.” The three-days training program targeted twenty-six members of the rehabilitation and training committees in the educational directorates in the governorate. The program took place at the Specialized Center for Vocational Training for Teachers.

The program presented by Both Omar Al Abri, an educational supervisor at the North Al Batinah Governorate, and Abdullah Al Qaidi, a school sports teacher at Abu Ayyub Al Hadhrami School in Muscat Governorate, presented the program which included six papers. The first paper was titled “Applications of Sports Management”, and aimed to identify sports management, its distinctive characteristics, and application in the field of managing school sports activities. The second paper was entitled “Sports Planning” and aimed to identify communication in sports management, its forms, and analyze the characteristics and types of sports planning. The third paper came under the title “High Performance Sports” and aimed at identifying concepts of high performance in sports, the sports pyramid, and analyzing the philosophy of sports development. The fourth paper was entitled “The Sports Path” and pointed out the concept of sports path, its importance, and stages (clubs, sports centers, sports competitiveness, national teams, high performance), defined the role of sports institutions in charting the sports path for athletes, identified balanced planning strategies between the sports track and the professional track. The fifth paper entitled “Organizing and Managing Sports Competitions (A)” aimed to identify the concept and functions of managing sport events, the importance of organizing and managing sports tournaments and competitions, providing trainees with the skills needed in organizing them, with a practical application for managing and organizing sport event (one-time knockout method) using the (WINNER) application. The sixth paper also came under the title “Organizing and Managing Sports Competitions (B)” and aimed to distinguish between the best methods for managing and organizing sports competitions, point out the ability to transcribe match results into the league system, with a practical application for managing and

organizing sports competitions (league method + transcribing results) using the (WINNER) application.

The program aims to develop the knowledge and skills of sports activity specialists and school sports teachers, develop their knowledge and skills in sports planning skills through a set of activities and reference materials, and provide the opportunity to exchange experiences between them.
