The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Education, hosted a meeting of educational research officials in the member states of the Arab Education Bureau, which was organized by the Arab Center for Educational Research, within the framework of implementing the program of meetings of officials of corresponding bodies. The meeting was held in the presence of HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, HE Dr. Muhammad Mutair Al-Sharika, Director of the Arab Center for Educational Research, Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al-Ruwais, Advisor and Supervisor of Program Management at the Arab Office of Education, and the directors of educational research centers and departments in the Ministries of Education in member states, researchers and coordinators of the Centre’s programs and events. The meeting took place at the Hormuz Hotel Muscat.
The agenda of the meeting began with a speech by HE the Undersecretary of Education, Member of the Executive Council of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Arab Gulf States, in which he welcomed the participants, wishing success for the meeting, and a help-boost for educators in developing the educational system in the Arab Gulf States. After that, the first session began and included a paper entitled “Field Educational Research: Importance and Skills for Design and Application,” presented by Professor Dr. Hussein bin Ali Al Kharousi, Professor of Measurement and Evaluation at the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University. The second session followed and was entitled “The Reality of Field Educational Research in the Ministries of Education in Member States.” The session included the representative of each country providing a brief presentation on the most prominent field research projects implemented by the Ministry of Education in their countries.
The third session of the meeting came under the title “The Challenges of Applying Field Educational Research in Member States and Ways to Overcome Them.” The session discussed the challenges faced by the Arab Center for Educational Research for the Gulf States in applying its field research tools in member states, and the proposed mechanisms for overcoming them, and discussing ways to enhance cooperation between educational research centers and departments in member states.
The meeting aimed at highlighting the role of field educational research in reaching a deeper understanding of educational phenomena and problems, and its importance in developing education in member states. It Also sought to identify the skills required to be acquired by educational researchers to design and apply high-quality field research, and to learn about the reality of field educational research in the ministries of education in the member states and their application mechanisms. The meeting aimed at discussing the challenges facing the application of field educational research tools in member states, and ways to overcome them, and exchanging experiences between research centers and departments in member states.
