Gulf Forum for Educational Trainers in GCC Countries

The Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman, began on Monday morning the implementation of the Gulf Forum for Educational Trainers in GCC countries. The three-days forum targets “fifty” trainers from the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in Al Luban Hall at Avani Muscat Hotel in Seeb.

HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Education, inaugurated the opening of the forum, in the presence of HE Dr. Fatima Ghanem Al-Maadheed, Director of the Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States, members of the Center’s Board of Trustees, and the Directors-General at the Ministry’s General Diwan.

The program of the Gulf Forum began with a speech by HE the Director of the Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States, in which she said: “The Arab Center for Educational Training continues through this forum to rehabilitate and build the capabilities of educational trainers in the member states of the office, in the areas of identifying needs, and designing programs, activities and electronic portfolios to keep pace with the rapid developments in the field of training, inform them of the most important developments related to training methods, strategies and practices, and develop their skills and knowledge in the field of educational training. In addition, The Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States aims to review the most important successful and distinctive initiatives and experiences in member states in the fields of preparing and designing electronic educational contents, mechanisms for reading and analyzing academic achievement indicators to determine training needs and employing educational platforms in providing training services.”

HE the Director of the Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States added: “There is no doubt that the Arab Center for Educational Training has obtained international accreditation (CPD) in the field of continuing professional development, which is considered one of the best international accreditations for training activities in the world, as it provides a framework for continuous learning and development, enhances ethical behavior in the field of training, and contributes to the comprehensive quality and credibility of the training profession, all of which

confirms the position of the Arab Center for Educational Training as a leading institution in the field of education and training, and its continuous endeavor to improve education, develop our teachers and trainers, and qualify our educational cadres with the best methods and practices.”

After that, Ahmed Al Rawahi, Senior Studies and Follow-up Specialist in the Office of the Undersecretary for Education, delivered the Ministry’s speech in which he said: “The commitment of the Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States in implementing this forum comes to achieve several goals, the most prominent of which is to inform educational trainers in member states with experience about the most important developments in training methods and best professional practices in aspects of professional development, and the exchange of expertise and successful experiences that will provide the Gulf trainer with the competencies that qualify and support teachers and educational leaders in schools.”

This was followed by two sessions presented by trainers from the Arab Center for Educational Training for the Gulf States. The first session was entitled “Fundamentals of Building Attractive and Interactive Electronic Content Through Training Platforms” presented by Dr. Abdullah Yousef Al-Failakawi, Associate Professor at the College of Education at Kuwait University in Kuwait. The presentation aimed to present a set of technical tools that help teachers build attractive and interactive electronic content. The second session was entitled “Challenges Facing Teacher Trainers and Educational Leaders,” presented by Tahiya Al Jamoudi, a trainer at the Specialized Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers at the Ministry of Education, and Hamida Al Mufarii, a trainer in the Second Field Experts Program at the Specialized Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers from the Sultanate of Oman.

On Tuesday (yesterday) morning, the forum included the presentation of two sessions. The first session is titled “Identifying Training Needs Based on Student Achievement Data,” presented by Dr. Sanaa Mustafa Al-Riahi, Director of Leadership and Training Programs, and Educational Team Leader. The paper aimed to deepen the understanding of teacher trainers and school leadership trainers of the importance of linking training needs analysis and student achievement indicators. The second session was entitled “Individual Guidance (Coaching) to Support Continuing Professional Development for Trainers,” presented by Kamal Asaad Lahlouh, Senior Education Specialist at the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The forum includes today (Wednesday), six sessions presenting the experiences of member states. The first session includes two papers, the first paper is entitled “Utilizing Educational Platforms in Providing Training Services,”

presented by Aisha Amin from the State of Qatar and the second paper, entitled “Mechanisms for Reading and Analyzing Academic Achievement Indicators to Determine Training Needs,” is presented by Sheikha Al-Muqbali from the State of Qatar. The second session, entitled “Preparing and Designing Electronic Contents between Reality and Ambition,” is presented by Fatima Al-Abdouli from the United Arab Emirates.

The third session includes two papers, the first paper is entitled “Standards for Preparing and Designing Electronic Educational Contents” by Dr. Siham Ibrahim Al-Rabiah, Technical Supervisor at the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait, and the second paper is entitled “The Role of Educational Platforms in Raising the Quality of Education and Training” by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Tofan Al-Shammari, from the State of Kuwait. The fourth session, entitled “Utilizing Educational Platforms in Providing Training Services in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” is presented by Yacoub Yousef Al-Sharqi, Head of Schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The fifth session includes two papers, the first paper is entitled “Identifying the training needs of teachers in light of teachers’ practices based on collaborative inquiry” presented by Machi Muhammad Al-Shammari, Head of the Quality and Training Impact Measurement Department in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The second paper is entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Educational Platforms in Providing Training Services for Teachers in the Department of Education in Mecca from the point of view of teachers” presented by Nisreen Ali Bukhari - Training Supervisor at the Department of Education in Mecca. The sixth session includes two papers, the first paper is entitled “Project for a Modern Standard Arabic Speaking Program” presented by Dr. Ishaq Al-Khanjari from the Sultanate of Oman, and the second paper is entitled “An Overview of the New Teachers Program,” presented by Haitham Al Balushi and Ahmed Al Mayahi from the Sultanate of Oman.

The forum aims to exchange the most important and successful experiences that contribute to developing the work of trainers and review the most important developments in the field of educational training in terms of training methods, strategies, and practices. It also aims to discuss the challenges that trainers face while training teachers and educational leaders, develop a list of recommendations to address these challenges, identify ways to employ social media platforms in the field of training, and come-up with suggestions and recommendations that contribute to developing the performance of educational trainers.
