Ministry of Education holds Introductory Meeting on Professional Paths and Licenses System for Educational Bodies

 The Ministry of Education held an introductory meeting on the system of professional paths and licenses for educational bodies in the field of school administration and educational supervision yesterday (Tuesday) morning. The meeting was headed by Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jamoudi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision and Acting Director of the Professional Licensing Office for Teachers, at the Ministry’s General Diwan.

A number of personal concerned with the departments of school administration supervision, humanities, applied sciences, and individual skills at the Directorate-General of Education, and a number of members of the Professional Licensing Office for Teachers at the Ministry attended the meeting.

The meeting began with a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jamoudi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, in which he talked about the Education Law and what it stipulates about professional licenses that include all educational bodies, and the primary goal of building these licenses in countries around the world in general and the Sultanate of Oman in particular, which is to retain educational cadres within the framework of schools to provide better educational service. The educational system in the Sultanate of Oman, according to the Education Law, was not limited to teachers, but rather included all educational bodies, including teachers, senior teachers, school principals, their assistants, educational supervisors, and supporting jobs, and that what distinguishes the licensing system is that it is a job licensing system and a job promotion system.

Al-Jamoudi also explained: “This meeting addresses three topics, namely: introducing the system of professional paths and licenses for teachers, presenting the basic requirements for building the system of paths and professional licenses for the categories of school administration and educational supervision, and discussing the proposed work methodology for the stages of preparing the special documents for building the system of paths and professional licenses for members of the education cadres in the field of school administration and educational supervision.

Followed that, Jawaher Al-Abri, Assistant Director, gave a visual presentation on the second topic which reviewes the basic requirements and standards for building a system of professional paths and licenses for the categories of school administration and educational supervision. Reyam Al-Ghassani, a professional licensing specialist at the Professional Licensing Office for Teachers, also reviewed the third topic, in which she touched on the proposed work methodology for the stages of preparing special documents to build a system of professional paths and licenses for members of the educational staff in the field of school administration and educational supervision. At the end of the meeting, the opinions of educational supervisors at the Ministry’s General Diwan and the educational directorates in the governorates were surveyed regarding the professional paths and licenses for members of the educational staff in the field of school administration and educational supervision.
