The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development, launched the Educational Tools Caravan initiative with the slogan “Innovate and Connect.” The caravan targets educational media specialists, teachers, and students in three stations: Muscat Governorate, North Al Batinah Governorate, and Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The initiative comes with support and funding from the Oman Development and Investment Company (Ominvest), Azzan Bin Qais Educational Group, Rukn Al Khaleej Foundation, Nizwa Office Supplies and Stationery, Thawani Technology, and Bank Dhofar.
Dr. Yahya Al Harithi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development, and Chairman of the main committee supervising the Educational Tools Convoy Initiative, “Innovation and Communication,” said: “Within the framework of activating the partnership with the educational field, this initiative came to encourage workers in the educational field to innovate and be creative in producing low-cost educational tools, help innovative teachers develop their educational methods, identify ways to improve their technical specifications, and raise the efficiency of their performance to achieve learning in its cognitive, skill, and emotional aspects, and in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the education sector within Oman Vision 2040.”
Dr. Al Harithi pointed out: “The initiative will be implemented in its first year in three stations, with its first station launching on December 11 in Muscat Governorate, with the participation of schools from Muscat Governorate, and South Al Batinah Governorate for three days. The convoy then moves to Suhar with the participation of schools from North Al Batinah Governorate and Al Buraimi Governorate. The convoy will conclude its work in Nizwa with the participation of schools from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and ADhahirah Governorate.”
Dr. Al Harithi also stated: “The organization of this initiative comes in partnership with a number of companies and institutions, which contributed to supporting the initiative within the framework of community partnership. This initiative is one of the initiatives and projects that encourage teachers, students, and all workers in the educational field and provide them with the skills of creating educational methods through the exploitation of environmental materials.”
The Educational Tools Convoy initiative comes to highlight school innovations in educational tools, and highlight the efforts made in producing and providing educational tools, to achieve the principle of communication and cooperation between educational tools specialists, teachers, and students, exchanging experiences, and reviewing observations and suggestions, in addition to providing ways to develop educational tools among the various directorates in the governorates. The initiative includes the implementation of a mobile exhibition of educational tools between the educational directorates and contains a presentation of the Ministry’s most important productions of educational tools and highlighting the innovation of the educational field in this the various academic subjects.
The exhibition accompanying the convoy is divided into two parts. The first is the Ministry’s Educational Tools Section, which includes a set of models of tools, materials, pictures, models, and educational bags that the Ministry provides to the educational field. The second is the Field Innovations of Tools Section, which includes tools produced by workers in the educational field that are low cost for all subjects and semesters.
The convoy aims to monitor the most important observations and suggestions, find ways to develop educational methods, and encourage workers in the educational field to innovate and be creative in producing low-cost educational methods. It also aims to highlight the possibility of the Ministry adopting a number of distinctive initiatives and innovations to redesign and develop them and subsequently produce and distribute them to the schools of the Sultanate of Oman, involve students in using and experimenting with the educational means offered, and highlight modern technologies in the production of educational means.
