The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiads, in cooperation with Oman Shell, implemented on Sunday morning the two-day Shell NXplorers training program. The program targeted thirty-two teachers supervising the program and took place in Kyriad hotel Muscat.
Trainers from Kid City presented the training that included training participants to present the Shell NXplorers Program for Youth, which is an innovative educational program targeting school students between the age group of ten to twelve years, to create and enhance their complex and creative thinking necessary to bring about positive changes, through providing interactive, simplified workshops full of advice and inspiration, encouraging science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, thinking based on the principles of inclusion, diversity and justice, and giving preference to communities that suffer from neglect.
The program also included focusing on three global goals: clean water and sanitation, clean and affordable energy, and responsible consumption and production. The training program also focused on the “six” steps in the Shell NXplorers Program, which are stimulating, impressing, innovating, researching, and inventing, selecting, and developing, and presenting and sending. The program also touched on the gains of students participating in the NXplorers Program, the process of the program, the practical training of participants, their necessary experience, the skills, and competencies required for the program, and the competition framework in the program.
The training program aims to increase awareness among teachers and students in the fields of creativity and innovation, enhance the concepts of global sustainability goals, and motivate students to make positive change in society in the areas of energy, water, and food.
