The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Educational Studies and International Cooperation, and the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiads, participates in the 7th Belt and Road science camp with the participation of (5) students and teachers from the Sultanate of Oman and teachers. The scientific camp is held in the city of Yinchuan in the People’s Republic of China from 8 to 14 October 2023. It is organized by the China Society of Science and Technology, the Center for Child and Youth Science, and the Chinese Association of Child Science Teachers.
The camp kicked-off today, Monday, where the Omani student Moza Al-Kamzari delivered the participating delegation’s speech in the opening ceremony, in which she said: “We are delighted to be part of the 7th Belt and Road Teenager Marker Camp and Teacher Workshop. On behalf of my colleagues present here, and the Ministry of Education, I would like to express my happiness and appreciation for this great opportunity we had to present our achievements and share experiences in innovation and the scientific field. Before we kick start the conference, I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of this event in the friendly People's Republic of China who sincerely contributed to making this event a success, which would not have been possible without the support of all those present. I hope we have wonderful days together to present our innovations and share our ideas with the rest of the fellows from other participating countries, seeking to bring creative ideas that benefit all nations.”
The opening ceremony of the camp included a speech delivered by Chen Hong Ying, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Ningxia Science and Technology Association, and another speech by Shen Ping, Director of the Youth Science and Technology Center at the Chinese Science and Technology Association. A sand drawing presentation about the innovator’s journey followed the speeches and then the activities of the camp began. The first day of the camp included a visit to the Ningxia Science and Technology Museum, and an exhibition of the achievements of scientific and technological cooperation between eastern and western Ningxia at the China and Arab Countries Exhibition. The camp focuses on a number of science fields, including microbiology, physics, space sciences,
environmental science and engineering, plant sciences, energy, biochemistry, and molecular sciences.
Dr. Yahya Al Jabri, a chemistry teacher and head of the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation participating in the Scientific Camp, said: “This scientific camp comes within the framework of strong relations and bonds of friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China to exchange scientific visits. The participating Omani delegation consists of (5) students interested in scientific innovations, robots, and artificial intelligence. The scientific camp includes various visits, activities, and events, including visits to the Museum of Science and Technology, the Ningxia Museum of Scientific Achievements between East and West, and various scientific museums, attending scientific lectures, and discussions to exchange scientific ideas, and various experiences in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and innovations. The camp also includes performances, exploratory, and entertainment participation. In this camp, (28) countries are participating in this scientific camp distributed over different regions in the People’s Republic of China.
Nouf Al Shehhi, participating student in the camp, said: “This camp is a start for me towards enhancing my experiences in the fields of innovation and artificial intelligence, as it is my first foreign scientific visit to exchange the experiences of other countries, and I am excitedly awaiting the activities and events that will be held in the camp, especially the visit to the Ningxia Rice– Fish Satellite Ecology Park.”
The Belt and Road Science Camp aims to enhance exchange and cooperation between China and the countries located along the Belt and Road in the fields of science, technology, education, and education for youth. The camp also aims to develop and strengthen the innovation skills of the younger generation, enhance the concept of international understanding and peace among participating students from different cultures, and exchange social and scientific cultures, as well as opening horizons for acquaintance among participating students.
