The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Educational Studies and International Cooperation, and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Finland, signed yesterday (Sunday) morning, a memorandum of understanding in education. The memorandum was signed by HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Education, and HE Anu Erika Viljanen, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, not residing in the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of HE Abdul Redha bin Mustafa bin Sultan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Finland in the Sultanate of Oman, and Maryam bint Muhammad Al-Riyami, Advisor to the Minister for International Educational Relations, and acting Director-General of the Department of Educational Studies and International Cooperation. The signing of the memorandum took place at HE’s office at the Ministry of Education’s General Diwan.
The memorandum aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and develop cooperation in areas of common interest in education. It also aims to encourage cooperation in several areas such as professional development for teachers and workers in the educational field, curricula, educational and methodological literature, and exchanging information related to the equivalence of qualifications, information technology, and solutions of Education, the communications used, the partnership between the family, the school, and the community in education, methodologies of discovering and nurturing gifted and talented children, and entrepreneurship.
It is worth noting that the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Finland is the establishment of the Omani-Finnish Private School, which was established in 2018. The number of its students reaches “three hundred and thirty-one” in the current year 2023, of whom “forty-eight” are in the stage of early education, two hundred and eighty-three, from first grade to twelfth grade.
