The Khazna Team of the Financial Literacy Project at the Ministry of Education holds its First Meeting

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Khazna Team of Instilling Financial Literacy Project, held today (Wednesday) morning the first meeting for members of the central team and representatives of the educational governorates, at the Novotel Muscat Airport Hotel.

During the meeting, the vision of the “Khazna” project was reviewed which is raising the level of awareness of financial culture among school students to create an economically and financially aware generation. The executive plan for the project in the next phase was also discussed during the meeting, with clarification of the implementation mechanisms, along with a discussion of the challenges that may face implementation in the educational field, and the proposed initiatives. This approach comes about spreading the principles of financial culture because of its importance as one of the requirements of modern times and keeping pace with economic development in the world.

Dr. Haifa Al-Maamari, Director of the Khazna Project (Instilling the Principles of Financial Literacy among School Students), said: “This project comes out of interest in spreading awareness of financial culture among school students and preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with current economic developments as one of the requirements for sustainable human development and future skills, and to adapt to it in the future according to Oman Vision 2040. The Ministry of Education formed a main committee for the Khazna Project (instilling the principles of financial culture among school students) based on Ministerial Resolution (67/2023).”

Dr. Haifa Al-Maamaria also explained that the “Khazna” project means developing a procedural plan to spread financial awareness among school students in the Sultanate of Oman through implementing a group of various educational activities, programs, and events. It aims at spreading awareness among school students in everything related to financial transactions in various aspects of life, raising a financially aware generation, preparing them for positive interaction with society in matters of financial transactions, providing them with the concepts, values, and trends related to financial culture, accustoming them to economics and saving,

and investing all their skills in this field, in addition to preparing a generation that participates in achieving the economic development of the country, and giving them leadership skills that qualify them to take responsibility for building their country and society.
