HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, received in her office the North Al Sharqiyah educational two winning teams of the football tournament for the first cycle schools in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, which was organized by the Directorate-General of Education in North Al Sharqiyah, and under the supervision of the School Sports Committee of the Omani Federation for School Sports. The reception of the students was attended by HE Majid bin Said Al-Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Alia bint Said Al-Habsi, Director-General of North Al Sharqiyah Educational Directorate, and representatives of the Directorate’s Sports Committee members.
A number of 42 schools from the first cycle-education schools in North Al Sharqiyah participated in the league, and the matches were played in a two-times knockout system. The participating teams were divided into five groups, in which Al Roya School for Basic Education won the first place, Al-Mudhaibi School came in the second, and Al-Khadhraa School came in the third.
On the importance of this tournament, Alia Al-Habsi, Director-General of North Al Sharqiyah Educational Directorate-General, said: “The football league for school students enhances their athletic abilities, utilizes their time, and connects the local community with the educational community. The efforts of parents and clubs have emerged with the efforts of the different teams that came together to produce sports teams at a very high level. What we saw during the final match between the two teams of Al-Roya School and Al-Mudhaibi School is the high skills of these students despite their young age, which enhances their identity and their health for the benefit of society.”
On their participation in the tournament, Saif bin Saud Al-Qanoubi in the fourth grade at Al-Mudhaibi School said: “I am proud of being honored by HE the Minister of Education, and I thank everyone who contributed to our school obtaining the second place in the educational tournament in North Al Sharqiyah.” Aseel bin Jaber Al-Sabaqi from Al-Roya School, said: “I am happy that we won the first place
in the tournament, and what increased my joy was my presence at the Ministry of Education, and being honored by HE the Minister.”
Such tournaments provide students with physical culture and health awareness. It also develops their innate movements, upgrades their skill level of football, instills sports values, develops awareness of leisure time organization, and satisfies their tendencies and desires.
