The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Citizenship at the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development, organized yesterday (Monday) morning a workshop entitled "Digital Citizenship and Mechanisms of Activating it in Educational Curricula". The workshop targeted thirty-five employees concerned with the educational process in the directorates of the Ministry's General Diwan and took place in Muscat Hall at the Ministry.
The workshop was delivered by Moza Al Saadi, Senior Citizenship Specialist in the Department of Citizenship, through presenting a paper that dealt with the concept of citizenship, its development, digital citizenship and its components, mechanisms for including its concepts in educational curricula, developing activities and trainings to enhance its dimensions. The paper also proposed a strategy for developing educational content to keep pace with the digital citizenship requirements, and its connection to the concept of citizenship, inclusion in the educational system in the Sultanate of Oman, and the stages of its development among students. The paper also presented international models in its application and promotion through games, and the most important proposals that would enhance the integration of concepts related to digital citizenship in the curricula. The workshop concluded with discussion and enquiries from the trainees.
