03/04/2023

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Vocational Guidance and Student Counseling Center "Department of Guidance and Awareness", concluded yesterday morning (Sunday) the first aid program for students, teachers, and school health nurses, under the auspices of HE Professor Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, in his office in the Ministry's General Diwan.

The first aid program aims to create a healthy educational environment, and to provide a trained cadre capable of providing first aid service in the school environment, with the support of the Petroleum Development Oman and the Al Shomoos Institute. It also aims at providing teachers and school students with basic knowledge and skills in the field of first aid and providing school health nurses with the ability to conduct appropriate first aid in the event of a student injury while in school, or during classroom and extracurricular educational activities. The program also seeks to form a specialized training team of school health nurses to carry out the task of training a number of school students in cooperation with the school’s teachers and students who are trained in first aid.

It is worth noting that the implementation of the programs in the period from (2018 to 2023) came in several stages, as it targeted in its first three stages students of public and private schools in the Sultanate, school health nurses, school sports teachers and school safety supervisor. In the academic year (2022-2023) the phase of training trainees from all governorates of the Sultanate has started.

The program has achieved all its objectives that were set during the signing of the agreement between the Ministry of Education and Petroleum Development Oman, namely: the presence of trained personnel in first aid and pulmonary resuscitation in all schools of the Sultanate, and the access of all public schools and special education schools to a first aid box and an exercise book for the Heart Rescuer Program from the American Heart Association. The program obtained an excellent

level in the general average of the evaluation criteria approved by the concerned authority in the Ministry of Education in all governorates.
