Education signs Two Cooperation Agreements with the Development Corporation of Oman LNG Company

In the presence of HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education, the Ministry signed two cooperation agreements with the Development Corporation of the Oman LNG Company. The first agreement came to finance the initiative of a project to equip the classrooms of the integration program with sensory integration aids for students with disabilities in the schools of South Al Sharqiyah governorate. The second agreement came to finance the project of the National Program to Support Emerging Innovators. The signing of the two agreements took place at the office of HE the Minister, in the Ministry's General Diwan.

The agreements were signed on the part of the Ministry of Education, by HE Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and on the part of the Oman LNG Development Corporation, Dr. Amer bin Nasser Al-Matani, CEO of the Corporation.

On the importance and objectives of thses two agreements, HE Majid bin Saeed Al-Bahri, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, stated saying: “This project will make a quantum leap in the indicator of improving the services provided to students with disabilities in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The importance of equipping halls for sensory integration is represented in the urgent need to find quality services that enhance the abilities of these students and show their maximum potential by investing and developing their senses and providing them with the necessary skills and competencies to improve their performance. The Ministry also seeks, through this project, to facilitate access to services and reduce the burden on parents, thus improving the quality of educational services in the Sultanate of Oman.”

HE added: “As for the second agreement, it came to finance the National Program to Support Emerging Innovators by enrolling them in programs concerned with developing the capabilities and skills of innovative students, who participated in the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovations and the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence competitions that were held in December 2022 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. This program aims to spread awareness of the importance of

innovation and promote best practices in supporting the innovation system at the national level, in terms of providing an integrated knowledge and scientific environment of services, facilities and mechanisms necessary for students and educational cadres: such as training courses and scientific and technical consultations with the aim of raising their personal, entrepreneurial and technical skills, and providing realistic and exemplary experience and specialized advice to innovators to test the feasibility of implementing their innovation on the ground, build prototypes, and the possibility of incubating and developing distinguished ideas. This program will also be implemented in cooperation with institutions concerned with innovation from the government and private sectors through several stages that include criteria for selecting participants.”

From his side, Dr. Amer bin Nasser Al-Matani, CEO of the Omani LNG Development Corporation, said: “We are pleased to continue the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, which will undoubtedly serve the educational process in the Sultanate of Oman, whether it is in providing new services to advance the social inclusion of students with disabilities, and in efforts to promote innovation among our students. The integrated classrooms project, which includes sensory integration, aims to deliver the educational message in a modern and accessible manner to students with disabilities, and this is reflected in the quality of the services provided, and in raising their academic achievement. The National Program aims to support and embrace innovators, and to create an educational environment that encourages innovation, and supporting innovation is one of the most prominent elements of the corporate social responsibility strategy.”
