The finals of the Pocari Sweat School Football Championship 2023 are set to kick-off next Sunday, which is organized by the Omani School Sports Association, with the support of the Muscat brand stores and pharmacy (Pocari Sweat), and the Cheltenham Muscat School, which is hosting the championship matches from January 15-19, with the participation of (8) teams representing (5) educational directorates.
The participating teams include Hay Al Dhaher School for Basic Education from Muscat Governorate, Manbaa Al Khair School for Basic Education from Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, Al Ishraq School for Basic Education from North Al Batinah Governorate, Heritage City School for Basic Education from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, Al-Maarifa School for Basic Education from Dhofar Governorate, Muscat International School, Indian School Al-Ghubra Branch, and Cheltenham Muscat School, who is the host of the tournament.
The tournament targets students in grades (2-4), whose number is (80) students, with (10) students from each school. The draw will be held on Saturday evening, January 14, in the presence of all representatives of the participating teams, members and representatives of the organizational, technical and media committees, where the eight teams will be divided into two groups of (4) teams in each group, and they will play in a league system so that the first and second qualify for the round of four. A knockout is held so that the two winners qualify for the final, and the two losing teams to determine the third and fourth places. The group league will be held on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, with (4) matches every day, while the four-round competitions will be held next Wednesday, and the closing will be on Thursday morning.
It is worth noting that the qualifying phase preceding these finals was implemented in five educational directorates, namely: Muscat, Al Batinah North, Al Sharqiyah South, Dhofar and Al Dakhiliyah, in addition to the international
schools. A total number of 326 schools, 3260 students, and 700 teachers, coaches, supervisors, organizers, and referees participated in the qualifying stage.
