The Minister of Education receives CEO of Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training

HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education, received yesterday morning (Monday) in her office at the Ministry’s General Diwan, Dr. Osama Yousef Muhammad Obaidat, CEO of the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman, and in the presence of Dr. Intisar bint Abdullah Ambosaidi, Assistant Director General for the Specialized Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers.

During the meeting, aspects of educational cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training in were discussed, along with the challenges facing the education sector in general and the teaching profession in particular. Aspects of the continuous support provided by the Ministry to teachers, their development and qualification, and overcoming all challenges facing them to achieve the goals of the educational and learning process were also reviewed, in addition to the continuous support of the Specialized Institute for Vocational Training of Teachers, and to provide all privileges to achieve its desired goals.

On the sideline, HE Majid bin Saeed Al-Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, received Dr. Osama Obaidat, CEO of the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in his office at the Ministry’s General Diwan. The meeting discussed the professional development programs for teachers and their qualification, the reality of private schools in the Sultanate of Oman, and the international ones, as well as the mechanisms for measuring the quality of education in public and private schools, and the challenges facing the administrative affairs sector in terms of transferring teachers and appointing them in remote areas, the geographical distribution of

schools and its challenges, and the tendency to partner with the private sector to operate the education sector.

Dr. Ali Al-Shukaili, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Private Schools in the Ministry, also met with Dr. Osama Obaidat, CEO of the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the presence of Khadija Al-Salami, Assistant Director-General for Educational Affairs in the Directorate, and Mahmoud Al-Husseini, Assistant Director-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and a number of directors of departments in the directorate, at Salalah Hall in the Ministry's General Diwan.

During the meeting, Khadija Al-Salami gave a presentation on the organizational structure of the Directorate, an overview of private schools in the Sultanate of Oman and their classification, general supervision of them in the Ministry and the scope of supervision in the educational governorates, statistics of the numbers of these schools and the approved programs in them, and the academic stages applying these programs. In addition, the presentation addressed the investment sector, with an overview of the current projects carried out by the Directorate, and the latest publications of the Directorate.

Dr. Osama Obaidat, CEO of the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training, said at the end of his visit to the Ministry of Education: “I was pleased to have the opportunity to learn about the Omani experience in the field of education, especially after our meeting with HE the Minister and HE the Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, who confirmed the clear vision in leading the education system in the Sultanate of Oman to prepare a generation capable of keeping pace with the challenges of the future, by focusing on the teachers’ qualifying and training, which, in turn, opened many horizons and additional knowledge of the Ministry's tremendous efforts in serving the educational process and achieving quality education, and trying to devise appropriate solutions to the challenges that face the educational systems, such as the issue of digital transformation, the distribution of teachers, and overcrowding of students in the classrooms, how to raise the quality level of education, and rehabilitate and develop the teacher.”

He also added: “We also had a meeting yesterday with the Assistant Director of the Specialized Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers and the Institute's

staff and got acquainted with many joint programs that are implemented for teachers and educational leaders, whether in the field of skills that teachers acquire and teaching strategies, or in specialized knowledge in the curricula. There are common aspects of cooperation between us and the Ministry in various fields, especially since the Academy - since its establishment 13 years ago - has a stock of knowledge and experiences, which we intend to, so there will be areas of joint cooperation between the Academy and the Ministry such as joint field programs offered to teachers and educational leaders, educational research, areas of evaluation (whether program evaluation or school evaluation) and accreditation issues.”
