The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Information Technology "Awareness and Digital Services Department" recently implemented an introductory seminar on "Virtual Reality". Dr. Faisal Al Busaidi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Information Technology attended the seminar with the participation of a number of officials and employees of the department in the Directorate. The seminar took place in the brainstorming hall of the Digital Development Laboratory in the Ministry's General Diwan.
This introductory seminar on "Virtual Reality" was presented by Sami Al-Qasabi, an information systems specialist at the Directorate-General of Information Technology in the Ministry. Virtual Reality is a computer technology that provides an active environment surrounding the user and responds to the user’s actions in a natural way, through special viewing glasses attached to the user's head, and sometimes special devices are used to track and control the movement of the hands. The Ministry seeks to use this technology to serve the educational aspects and curricula due to the fact that virtual reality serves the educational and learning in an effective and attractive way with wide capabilities, and interesting methods that allow students to think and visualize abstract concepts.
