The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning, launched yesterday (Monday) morning the awareness program on Talent and Creativity 2022. The program targets 1600 members of the decentral team, members of the school team for programs to discover and nurture gifted students, and a representative from public schools. The two-days program is carried out online via video communication on the "TEAMS" platform.
The program began with a visual presentation included the national strategy for discovering gifted students, sponsoring them in school education, preparing the organizational guide for their programs, the Awareness Week for Talent and Creativity 2021, building the guide for enrichment activities for talented students, and applying the profile of creative capabilities, the Arab Talent Initiative, the Gulf Day for Talent and Creativity 2022, and the Oman Challenge Program.
The program included the presentation of four papers. The first paper was presented by Dr. Tariq Al Kharousi, Assistant Director of the Diagnosis and Talent Care Department at the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuing Learning and was entitled "Efforts of the Ministry of Education in the Field of Talent." Ahmed Al Busaidi, Senior Specialist in Talent Care at the Department of Special Education and Continuing Learning in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Education, presented the second paper entitled "Talented Students.” The third paper was entitled "Expansion of the Talented Students' Identification Program", presented by Salma Al-Abri, Senior Specialist in Talent Care in the Diagnosis and Talent Care Department of the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuing Learning. Dr. Moza Al Saadi, Head of the Department of Special Education and Continuing Learning in the Education Directorate of South Al Batinah Governorate, presented the fourth paper entitled "Programs for Talented Students".
The second day of the program includes include the presentation of a paper entitled "Gulf Day for Talent and Creativity 2023" presented by Khamis Al Shukaili, Head of the Talent Care Department in the Diagnosis and Talent Care Department of the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuing Learning. The paper includes the goals of the Gulf Day for Talent and Creativity, the time period, the target group, and the mechanism for activating the Gulf Day for Talent and Creativity at the level of provincial education, and proposals for training workshops.
The program aims to introduce the efforts of the Ministry of Education in the field of discovering and caring for talented students, identifying talent and gifted people and their characteristics, and the mechanisms, stages, and tools for detecting them, clarifying the procedural plan for the program for identifying gifted students, introducing their programs, and clarifying the tasks of members of the decentral and school teams. The program also aims to introduce the Gulf Day for Talent and Creativity, and the Ministry's plan to celebrate and activate it in educational directorates.
