Education implements Training Workshop on Lean Tools Applications for Continuous Improvement
The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Strategic Planning - Quality Department, carried out a training workshop on the application of Lean methodology tools for continuous improvement, yesterday (Wednesday) morning in Khasab Hall in the Ministry's General Diwan.
The workshop aims to spread awareness of the Lean methodology amongst the employees of the Directorate-General of Strategic Planning and Development, inform them of the importance of managing change to achieve strategic goals, identify the historical development of the Lean methodology, assess the participants’ reality of work in light of the types of waste, and identify the most important tools of the Lean methodology, the role of visual management in continuous development, and the importance of periodic meetings for teams to achieve sustainable development.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Shuaili, Assistant Director of the Quality Department, said: “Working with the Lean methodology is among the objectives of the five-year plan of the Ministry of Education, and it started in 2021 as a first stage in which a team of employees of the Ministry’s General Diwan and the educational directorates was formed, followed by the process of strengthening the institutional culture about the methodology and the feasibility of its application and the selection of projects from the Directorate-General of Strategic Planning and Development to work on them according to the methodology within the scope of the Ministry. During the current year 2022, we are following up on the completion of the selected projects in the first phase. The training of the team has also been completed and procedures have been started to train and qualify a second team to be the campaign of the message of change and improvement in the Ministry of Education. The process of education and spreading awareness of the methodology continues with the various available means,
hoping to achieve what we aspire of improvements and developments in the work environment and creating an attractive environment for all stakeholders in the Ministry of Education.”
