HE Dr. Jokha bint Abdullah Al Shukaili, CEO of the General Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education, sponsored yesterday (Wednesday) evening, the honoring ceremony of 180 students and teachers who excelled in the cognitive development program in science, mathematics, and geography concepts, in the presence of HE Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of Oman Science Festival 2022 and organized by the Ministry of Education represented by the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad, at Ahmed Bin Majid Theater at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
The cognitive development program for students in science and mathematics subjects and geography concepts aims to improve students’ scientific and practical skills, encourage them to acquire knowledge, raise the levels of their academic achievement in science subjects, mathematics, and geography concepts, activate the scientific and applied aspect of their studies, and encourage them to research, survey and organize scientific thinking.
The honoring ceremony began with the screening of a film on the exhibition of student innovations, robotics, and artificial intelligence for the academic year 2021/2022, which included meetings with students participating in the exhibition and their supervisors.
After that, Dr. Maya Al-Azari, Educational Expert in the Minister’s office and acting Director of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department at the Ministry, delivered a speech in which she said: “We meet you intentionally in this place in the midst of this the wonderful atmosphere; to add more value to your honor and let its impact remain in your conscience, while you live with us the details of the Oman Science Festival in its third edition, at a time when we reap with you the harvest of an academic year from your efforts and your hard work.”
Dr. Al Azri confirmed the importance of the role played by teachers and parents in motivating students to participate in such scientific programs. She also expressed her gratitude to their efforts and congratulated them all on the event. She added: “The great role played by the Ministry in modernizing and developing the programs sponsored by the Knowledge Development Program since its implementation is progressing at a rapid pace, by introducing quality programs or developing existing programs that always keep pace with the new, in innovations, scientific Olympiads, robotics and artificial intelligence competitions. The Sultanate of Oman achieved honorable results with the participation of its students at the regional and international levels in the competitions of scientific innovations, robotics and artificial intelligence, and national, regional, and international Olympiads.”
After that, a film was shown about the activities of the Oman Science Festival during the past two days, and it focused on student scientific innovations and robot competitions. Then the student, Al-Jalila Bint Masoud Al-Hinai, from Aisha Bint Talha School for Basic Education in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, gave a speech on behalf of her honored students and colleagues.
At the end of the ceremony, the sponsor of the occasion honored the students and teachers in the cognitive development program in science, mathematics, and geography concepts, in the field of student innovations, robotics, and artificial intelligence competitions, science Olympiad for juniors, mathematics Olympiad for juniors, Chemistry Olympiad, and Math Olympiad. and (GLOBE) environmental research program.
The honorees praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Education represented by the Department of Innovation and the Scientific Olympiad in upgrading and developing student skills and urging them to think creatively, research, investigate and innovate.
