HE. The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation Dr. Rahma Bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqiya opened the Education Forum 2022 in the Sultanate of Oman, organized by the International Business Group (Tarsus) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, under the slogan "Transforming Education to Build a Brighter and More Sustainable Future," at Crown Plaza Hotel.
The opening of this World Conference began with a tour of the accompanying exhibition, in which sponsors, supporters and participants reviewed several initiatives and electronic and technical services in the field of education.
Later, Mohannad Yaman, on behalf of the International Business Group (Tarsus), welcomed the attendees and presented a summary of the GESS Exhibition for Supporting and Finding Solutions for Education Needs, the organizing company for this conference and the educational partnership between them and the Ministry of Education, entitled:
“The Secret of Survival”.
Oman Vision 2040
After that, Hamad bin Ali Al-Sarhani, advisor of HE. Minister of Education for Administrative Affairs said: "The topics of this conference are consistent with the educational visions we all seek to achieve and are in line with the aspirations of the Oman Vision 2040 to improve the classification of the Sultanate of Oman in many indicators.
This conference coincides with the conclusion of MOE and Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation to organize a national symposium entitled "Education in the Sultanate of Oman towards a sustainable and enhanced education for future skills" during June 22-23, which included more than 250 participants from specialists in the education sector, representatives from the private sector, civil society institutions, teachers, supervisors, students and parents; In order to develop a common and coherent national vision to frame the work through the institutions concerned to transform education and benefit from the achievements of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Hamoud bin Khalfan Al-Harthi, the founder and CEO of the Majan Educational Company, delivered the company speech and said that it aims to support the establishment, growth, and development of a successful high-quality education sector, as well as to facilitate international investment in the education and human resources development sectors.
The session was chaired by Dr. Helen Wright, Director of the Global Thinking Foundation for Leadership, with the participation of Maria Vitoratus, a professional trainer in the professional community in the United Arab Emirates. Hamoud bin Khalfan Al-Harthi, the founder and CEO of the Majan Educational Company, David Jerry, the Principal of Bromana Secondary School in Lebanon, and Russell Kylie from the Studio for Intellectual Learning. The discussion addressed how to prepare students and provide them with the necessary skills, from home to university, to be able to keep up with the future.
Dr. Faisal bin Ali Al-Busaidi, Assistant Director-General of the General Directorate of Information Technology at the Ministry of Education, presented a presentation about "The Use of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Education", in which he discussed the application of future technology based on artificial intelligence and its impact on all aspects of life, the dimensions of these applications in distance learning, virtual classes and virtual training, in addition to the initiatives of the Ministry of Education in employing artificial intelligence techniques in education.
Dr. Gilda Scarf, Chief Executive of Positive Education Ltd., presented the main paper, "The Purpose of Education", in which she stated that students should learn through experience, critical thinking and comparison, not through indoctrination.
After that, a discussion session was held on how to be a business leader in schools and to make students able to keep up with the job market after graduation.
Nabil Al-Raisi, owner of the "My School Oman’, presented the story of the school's success in transferring its education from traditional education to e- education, using teaching techniques in cooperation with Apple Company.
After that, several presentations were made by Peter Lacy of Acer, who gave a presentation on how to facilitate education using technology. Hashim Bani Taan, Director of the British Global Partnership Foundation, gave another presentation on "bringing together book designers and authors to work side by side." Nadia Braguethy, an education consultant at Smart Technology, presented the directions of schools in both the Gulf countries and the world on the use of technology in education.
At the conclusion of this World Conference, Russell Kelly presented a paper entitled "How to re-establish and professionalize teachers to keep up with realistic learning at the local, regional and global levels. Victoria James, Director of Edpuzzl, presented a paper on strengthening the teaching power of students using educational videos. Kalkalde, Head of the Teaching and Education Department at Oxford International Examinations Company, presented a paper on the latest innovations in the field of education technology in how to apply exams in an easy technological way.
David Geary presented a working paper, "Motivating the Next Generation of Educational Leaders."
