The Ministry of Education announced yesterday (Monday) its readiness for the upcoming Oman Science Festival in its third edition, in the period (10-15) of October, which is under the slogan "With science we meet again", in a press conference held on this occasion in the Al Adham Hall at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Muscat.

The press conference came under the patronage of HE Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Chairman of the Main Committee of the Oman Science Festival, and in the presence of Dr. Maya Al-Azri, the educational expert in the Minister’s office and the acting director of the Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department in the Ministry and the Head of Scientific Committee of the Festival, and Dr. Suleiman Al-Jamudi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision in the Ministry and Chairman of the Media Committee of the Festival, with wide participation from government, military and private bodies concerned with science and technology.

The press conference began with the Ministry of Education’s speech delivered by HE Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Chairman of the Main Committee of the Oman Science Festival, in which he said: “The Oman Science Festival is a forum for science and scholars, which will be held over a period of (6) days at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, where it gathers more than (70) scientific corners with (452) activities that vary between several fields: such as health, energy, programming, and others, presented by a large number of governmental, private, military and security institutions and a number of international organizations such as: the International Atomic Energy Agency, the World Food Organization (FAO), UNESCO, ISESCO, the University of Glasgow and the Calcio Institute of Technology in Germany, which presents a number of scientific concepts, scientific competitions and workshops, and technological devices and applications in an attractive and enjoyable way for students, teachers and members of society alike.”

HE also explained: "The festival aims mainly to communicate science to students and members of society in an easy way, in an interactive way that stimulates creative thinking, and to create a positive trend towards science, innovation and scientific research. The festival also aims to keep pace with global trends based on the dissemination of science and technology and the expected future changes and developments. This festival will host four scientific discussion sessions that address contemporary global issues over two consecutive days, bringing together a group of professors and academics from international organizations and government institutions from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.”
