The Sultanate's student's team that representing the Ministry of Education ended its participation in the technical test of the international Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020.The event held in Russia in Saint Petersburg via online for two days. Six students took part in the test from various education governorates such as Al Dhakhiliyah, Al Sharqiyah South and Al Sharqiyah North at Muscat Hall in the Ministry's Cabinet.
Moreover, the participation aimed to develop the skills of students' skills; prepare outstanding generation by applying national scientific Olympiads in science, math, and physics and chemistry and encourage students to engage in diverse global events.
It is worth mentioning that the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is an international competition held annually at candidate countries. It includes a high level of difficulty exam, in which pre-university students (i.e. under the age of twenty years) participate. However, each country participates with a team of six students as a maximum and the first Olympiad held in 1959 in Romania with the participation of seven countries. In addition, this participation is the first actual participation of the Sultanate after attended in the previous two versions (59 and 60) as an observer.
