Students and teachers will be able to use the "G Suite for Education" platform, a group of free Google applications designed specifically for schools to share documents, digitally attend class, submit assignments and communicate with students. The platform can also be used from any computer or mobile phone and access assignments, tutorials and share comments electronically. Through this platform, education in the Sultanate is moving towards a new phase, which mainly depends on distance learning.

Commenting on this, Dr. Nasser bin Abdullah Al-Abri, Director General of Directorate General of Information Technology in the Ministry said: “We are pleased with this cooperation with Omantel to provide the “G Suite for Education” platform in the Sultanate, which was worked on by a group of technicians, designers and programmers from the Ministry of Education”. Al-Abri stressed on the importance of the advantages and characteristics of this service, which makes it an ideal choice for teachers or students, especially with its integration with various Google applications.

Eng. Aladdin bin Abdullah Bait Fadil, General Manager of Sales at the retail subscriber unit in Omantel said: “As the first provider of integrated communications services in the Sultanate, it is our responsibility to help our subscribers from government authorities and companies to overcome the challenges resulting from the spread of the Corona virus (covaid19)”. He mentioned that the digital educational platform was a practical option in such circumstances where teachers can now perform their tasks, share educational content and take tests electronically and our children can continue studying from home without need to attend schools.
