The local committee of Sultan Qaboos Award for sustainable development at school environment held the first educational meeting to discuss launching the second edition at the current year to clarify the introduction plan of competition in schools and distribute the supervision process among committee members. The meeting presented by Dr.Aflah Al Kindi, the Director General of Education Directorate, the Local Committee Head, and committee members and supported committees. Dr.Aflah welcomed the attendance and thanked the committee's members for their efforts in the previous edition. He also emphasis the importance of well-organized preparations in which it highlight the focus of sustainable development projects and initiatives implemented by schools. He mentioned how essential role of media campaigns to clarify the importance of competition to schools and society.
In addition, the meeting included diverse work papers. Kalid Al Subaihi, the Award Coordinator at the Governorate presented a worksheet of the award vision where he explained that the school society must have a basic vision to be more innovative and sustainable in order to adopt development culture to conduct projects with effective society partnership. Then, Hilal AlAlawi, the Assistant Head for Technician Support and Networks delivered another paper where he discussed the innovation and employing technology in the award. Then, the members of local committee discussed the introductory visits to the schools in the Government.
It is also to be mentioning that the competition aimed to instill the concept of volunteering work among students via social volunteering projects and activities, activate the role of schools to serve environment and society, encourage the honest competition and provide students with updated knowledge of twenty first century for sustainable development to achieve the award objectives.
