General Aims
The Overall Objectives of the School Stages:
Consistent with the general objectives of education in the Sultanate of Oman, the overall established objectives of the study phases at schools is promulgated as follows:
(A) The General Objectives of Basic Education (grades 1 to 10):
Generally the basic education stage aims at the comprehensive development of various aspects of the personality of the learner in integration with the set framework of the principles of the Islamic faith and constituent Omani cultural identity. Thus focusing on the implantation of national and patriotic believes in the first stand along with the Arab and Islamic and humanitarian approach; methodically by developing their ability to interact with the world positively. Hence, the objectives of the curriculum (grades 1 10) aims to achieve the following objectives:
1) The development of the personality of the learner according to the Omani sound characters and to maintain balance in different aspects of personality: physically, mentally, socially, spiritually and emotionally, according to the characteristics of natural growth in basic education.
2) Consolidating the principles of the Islamic faith in the minds of the learners, and raising the practice of worship and commitment to the correct Islamic creed.
3) Raising the learners pride in their Arabic personality, and the development of their ability to use it thoroughly.
4) Inspire their pride of the cultural identity of the Omani personality and encourage the development of its viable elements.
5) The Implantation and the development of national belonging to the Arabian Gulf identity of the learner.
6) The implantation and the development of awareness of the importance of social key controls, and respect public and private property.
9) The development of learners' ability to use of scientific methods of thinking, the spirit of learning and the autonomy researching skills.
10) To equip the learners with the basic skills needed to deal with contemporary science and technology.
11) To encourage the ability to be creative and to sow the innovation spirit for better future.
12) To build up attitudes of values of work and production in a way that suits the nature of growth at this stage.
13) Giving the learners the basic necessary skills for life, and adapt a sound policy to prepare them for vocational market.
14) Sowing the attitudes, values and practices of preserving the environment and investing in its resources carefully.
15) Prepare them to undertake on most contemporary problems, and endow them with necessary problem solving strategies.
18) The development of attitudes and beauty recognition.
19) The Development of a conscious Omani learner whose capable of achieving constructive interaction with vast elements of contemporary culture.
20) To develop firm attitudes and values of tolerance, understanding, peace and coexistence with others.
B) The Overall Objectives of The Grades (11-12) :
Education in (11-12) grades seeks to complete the achievement of the objectives of Education, which has started in grades (1-10 statute) ; to be confirmed by the general objectives of the grades (11-12), which came as follows :
1) Promote loyalty to the homeland and to His Majesty the Sultan .
2) Confirmation of belonging to the Omani community and the Gulf Arab region and Islamic world.
3) Reaffirm faith in the principles of the Islamic religion, creed and the consolidation of spiritual values in the minds of learners, and uses it for life, and make it a standard of conduct.
4) Promote Pride in Arabic language and develop other languages too, encourage arts mastery, with adequate skills to a language of international communication.
5) Raising awareness about global trends in all aspects of civilization and utilizing the experiences of others in the light of Islamic values.
6) Development of various types of thinking skills, and the ability to apply problem solving methodologies, and incorporating science in practical life, and in related decision-making matters.
7) The development of positive attitudes towards productive work of all types, and respect values of volunteer work, saving and maintaining public property.
8) Use active learning skills for self-learning such as researching and other communication skills to benefit from information on cultural, scientific and vocational aspects.
9) Developing the ability to interact with others peacefully and to create positive social players based on the spirit of high responsibility and enlightened awareness of one's rights and social obligations.
10) Raising awareness on various issues such as health, population, environment, and the formation of positive attitudes of the values of artistic and aesthetic taste recognition.
